A Day at TCS

What daily life looks like matters just as much as what is taught.

Daily life at The Craig School is designed to feel steady, supportive, and predictable, while still allowing room for curiosity, connection, and growth. Structure is intentional. Support is present. Students know what to expect and where they are headed.

A Day That Feels Manageable

The school day follows clear routines that reduce stress and help students focus on learning rather than navigating uncertainty.

Transitions are supported, expectations are consistent, and staff are present throughout the day to help students stay engaged, regulated, and connected.

A Day With Community

Classrooms are small and intentionally structured so students learn alongside peers while receiving consistent adult support.

Students remain part of their classroom community throughout the day. Support happens within the learning environment rather than through frequent removal, helping students build skills while staying connected to instruction and peers.

A Day With Relationships

Strong relationships shape daily life.

Staff take time to know students as individuals, including their interests, strengths, and challenges. This relational foundation helps students feel comfortable asking for help, taking risks, and participating more fully in classroom life.

A Day With Balance

The day includes regular opportunities for movement and breaks. These moments are treated as essential, not disruptive.

Students are supported in learning when and how to take breaks so they can return to learning with greater readiness, focus, and regulation.

A Day of Social Learning

Social learning is not confined to a single lesson or block of time.

Skills are practiced during group work, transitions, games, lunch, and shared activities. Staff provide real-time coaching to support communication, problem-solving, and peer interactions as situations arise.

A Day With Respect

School life is grounded in respect.

Students are not shamed for mistakes or struggles. Challenges are addressed thoughtfully, with an emphasis on learning, reflection, and adjustment. Over time, this approach helps students rebuild confidence and develop a healthier relationship with school.

Ready For Another Day

Daily life here is about steady progress, not constant pressure.

Over time, students gain confidence, stronger regulation skills, and a deeper sense of belonging that supports both learning and growth.
