ACADEMICS

Real Academics.

Built for How Your Child Learns.

Students with ADHD are not academically weak. When the environment finally fits, they are often the sharpest kids in the room.

Small Classrooms. Credentialed teachers. A 5:1 student-to-staff ratio. Support built-in from the first day and not added on when things fall apart.

Instruction That Fits

For our students with ADHD and ASD, how a lesson is delivered matters as much as what is being taught. Ambiguity, rapid pacing, and sensory overload does not produce learning. They produce avoidance.

TCS classrooms are structured to remove those barriers before they become problems.

Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, TCS is adopting the Amplify Learning curriculum across all levels. Specifically designed for students who process information differently, this suite provides our students with even more support in the classroom.

Trained support staff work alongside teachers throughout the day. When a student needs help, a trusted adult is already in the room. Our goal is to always support within the learning environment.

How We Support Our Students in the Classroom

Students benefit from consistent structure support throughout the school day. Our academic program combines clear instruction, credentialed educators, and in-class coaching and support to help students engage and focus.

We Know Learning Differences

Some students need more than traditional classrooms can provide.

Our program supports learners who experience challenges with:

  • Attention
  • Regulation
  • Confidence
  • Past school experiences that disrupted progress.

Instruction is adjusted based on how students process information and engage over time.

When additional support is appropriate, targeted services including reading and math intervention, counseling, and therapeutic support are available.

Daily Social-Emotional Growth

Social and emotional development is part of daily life. Social struggles are the common thread in all of our students.

Students participate in daily group instruction led by licensed professionals focused on communication and social skills. Across the program, students receive in-the-moment coaching from trained staff and engage in goal-setting tied to behavior and classroom participation.

These skills directly support academic learning and sustained engagement.

Focus on Successful Habits

We're not about short-term wins or quick fixes.

Students build habits, self-awareness, and confidence that support their long-term success. With a structured foundation and consistent support, students develop the skills needed to move forward with independence.

The goal is readiness for what comes next, whether that is high school, another private program, or a public school setting.

Progress at TCS is designed to last.

Academics Frequent Questions

Will my child be seen as capable here?

Yes! (And that matters) Many students arrive having been told that their struggles reflect a lack of ability or effort. They don't.

TCS is built on the foundation that these are capable students in need of the right environment. Our job is to create that environment. Your child's job is to show up and learm.

Will my child be taught at grade level?

Yes. Instruction follows California State Standards and is delivered by credentialed teachers.

Students are grouped based on academic readiness, age, and social development. Some work above grade level. Others may need additional support.

The goal is progress with confidence, not pressure.

My child is behind. Can they catch up?

Many students improve significantly once attention and regulation are supported.

Students often make academic gains when the environment allows them to engage consistently.

Are teachers credentialed?

Yes. Core academic classes are taught by credentialed educators experienced in working with neurodiverse learners.

Will my child fall behind socially or academically?

Our goal is steady growth in both areas. Students build academic skills while also strengthening self-regulation and social awareness.

Many students transition successfully to high school, public schools, or other private settings.
