The Most Important Thing Is Being Myself
A TCS parent shares how her son found confidence, independence, and acceptance.
BEFORE TCS
Before TCS, life was very different for our family. Joaquin struggled in a traditional school setting, and every day felt like a battle.
He often felt misunderstood and frustrated, and as a parent, I constantly worried whether he was getting the support he truly needed. Making friends was difficult. Emotional regulation and transitions were challenging. Academics were a struggle. The list felt endless.
I spent countless hours advocating for services and support while wondering if my son would ever feel confident and successful at school.
FINDING SUCCESS AT TCS
Since joining TCS, we have seen tremendous growth in Joaquin.
He is happier, more confident, and genuinely enjoys going to school. The individualized support and understanding from the teachers and staff have helped him thrive both academically and emotionally.
He has made meaningful progress in reading and developed skills and independence that once felt out of reach.
Most importantly, he feels accepted for who he is.
He is happier, more confident, and genuinely enjoys going to school.
MOMENTS THAT MATTER
One of my favorite memories is hearing Joaquin talk about understanding and managing his feelings. He has also developed a love for math, something I never expected to hear him say.
But when asked what matters most about TCS, his answer is simple:
Being myself.
The patience, encouragement, and belief his teachers have shown him have made an incredible impact on our entire family.
There isn’t just one teacher or one moment that stands out. Every person at TCS has played a role in helping Joaquin grow.
WHAT I WOULD TELL OTHER FAMILIES
If your child learns differently and needs a school that sees their strengths instead of focusing on their challenges, TCS is a special place.
The staff truly knows and cares about each child. They meet students where they are, celebrate every victory, big and small, and create an environment where children can build confidence, friendships, and a love of learning.
TCS has been life-changing for our family, and we are deeply grateful to be part of this community.
