It's Like He Finally Gets to Be a Kid Again
A parent shares how TCS transformed their son's school experience and brought peace back to their family.
BEFORE TCS
In the last few years my son was in public school, his grades and test scores were low, not because he wasn't smart, but because he had completely checked out. He wouldn't do the work because he didn't want to be there. Most days, he ended up sitting in the hallway because the large, chaotic classrooms were overwhelming for him.
He ate lunch alone. He played alone at recess. And when we asked him about his day, he rarely told us anything.
I eventually learned he was being bullied, not from him and not from the school staff, but from another parent whose child had witnessed it.
I tried so hard to work with the school team, but every year felt like starting over. My husband used to say it felt like I was training the teachers instead of partnering with them.
I was exhausted. I was sad. I cried a lot.
Our son didn't want to go to school, and we honestly didn't know what to do.
FINDING TCS
Because he's considered "high functioning," many of the schools we looked at just weren't the right fit.
Then we found TCS.
A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE
The difference has been incredible. It’s like he finally gets to be a kid.
Today, he's at or above grade level in all of his subjects. He wakes up excited to go to school. He's invited to birthday parties and playdates. He has a best friend.
Instead of hearing nothing about his day, we hear nonstop stories about his friends, his classes, and all the funny things Mr. Chris does.
Ms. Peyton is an absolute gem. She pours her heart into her classroom, and it shows.
He wakes up excited to go to school. He has a best friend.
What's even more amazing is that what he's gained at TCS has carried over into the rest of his life.
He used to never want to leave the house. Now he participates in baseball, parkour, and coding classes.
My husband says it's like he finally has the bandwidth to enjoy life because his old school was draining all the energy he had.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
As for me, my friends tell me how happy I look when they see me, like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and they're right.
I don’t cry anymore.
I can drop him off at school and know he's safe. I trust the staff completely. They're supported, well-trained, and truly understand what they're doing.
They see my child for who he is and help him thrive.
WHAT TCS MEANS TO OUR FAMILY
Every child should have a place like TCS.
This place is what school should look like.
